“An opportunity to learn Technical skills for the children’s of Slum in Lahore.”
They said (people of slum) life is very tough. I asked WHY?
Because the belly pains when you don’t eat anything for a day or two, an old man replied. And it hurts when your kids see other well dressed kids going, on big cars and eating the food of their will. And it also make you answer-less when you kids ask you, when will I go to School?
Whatever that old man told me was so true (because everyone can see that by the situations and conditions they were living in) but I had nothing to say in the answer.
Now I was quite and just trying to figure out in my mind what question I have to ask next. Then after thinking for a minute or two I ask him why don’t you send your children’s to the school?
He laughed, and said I don’t know about any school that teaches you free of cost and don’t charge for books and other stuff. If you know about any school like that, please do tell me he said with a smiling face. Then he keep going on and telling me that people like us who are working on daily wages (if they find any work) are the one who can hardly feed their children’s with just some necessary food. And as you know we don’t have that much resources, lack of food, no permanent job and not a proper place to live its hard to fulfill the needs of our children’s.
Are you from any school who teach the poor people like us free of cost? another man asked.
I turned my face towards him and said No, but there is an option which I hope you people will like. And that is, I started introducing about my degree that I am doing (ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY) and the technical work experience I have related with electrical work. And also telling them the advantages of the people who have any skill and the ways how a technical person can earn money. So there is an option which is I can teach your children the skill I have (Electrician) and then they will be able to start their own works.
They got happy after hearing this and said we will talk to our kids later because they are in the search of work now and are not home. But they will learn this stuff and I am saying this Again the old man replied. That was really a happy moment for me and now I am looking forward to teach them this skill as much I know about this field and this will definitely Reduce a little amount of unemployment rate for some families IN SHA ALLAH.
