Yes, I know this is looking like a tomato. And it is but not the real one to eat! Are you confused about that? Don’t worry.

So this is a time management technique developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. In which we breakdown our big tasks into small chunks with the time period of 25 minutes and the interval(break) of 3–5 minutes after completion of these 25 minutes every time. This technique is now famous world wide and a lot of applications and software are available based on the same concept of this “Pomodoro Technique”.

Why do we need to use this technique?

The answer is simple because of one of our favorite Enemy “ Procrastination”. Now what is this Procrastination, and why is it our favorite enemy? The reason is this particular enemy not only tell us to live in the life of joy and happiness but to waste your time as well with the help of its main character “ The Gratification Monkey” that always calms us to not do our task till the last date come nearer.

My take on this Pomodoro Technique:

As I never used this technique ever before in my life because I was not familiar with this (Thanks to AMAL ACADEMY who introduced this to me). So I decided to check that is it really work or not and guess what? it did.

I had a pending assignment who’s due date was after one week and as I just recently came to know about this procrastination, gratification monkey and the panic monster(Link) so I though let’s give a try to my panic monster first this time as this innocent person never get the first attempt in my case. So I turned ON my laptop opened MS Word and started making my assignment and all the points were in my mind that I will have to turn OFF my cellphone of have to put it on silent mode and just have to focus on my work and yes I did the same for first 10 minutes. Then our every times favorite gratification monkey appeared form somewhere and told me how can you forget to ask your friends about their assignment progress? or what if they even haven’t started working on that yet? At first I was like Ohh man he is write. But on the same time I saw the time going on and on every second and I said to my self NO! not this time monkey. will see you in my break. And the alarm rung.

After eating an apple in those 5 minutes and doing some chit-chat with my gratification monkey who was almost about to convince me not to continue this again as I have 1 full week remaining for this type of tasks the alarm rungs again. The one I put to remind myself that 5 minutes are gone. Then I forced my self to start working on the assignment again and its was little different form the first time and I was quite enjoying it because I was doing the work fast and efficiently. But again some random ideas where coming up in my mind like you should drink water, and I was like Naahh! I am fine because that was my friend Monkey haha!. So I keep going and was doing my work and an awesome result come up that I finished my assignment in just an hour. I was not believing in my self because I was hoping to complete it in 2 or 3 days like in my normal routine works. But yahh! I did it.

So what I learned and experienced form that all is that everything we do with a proper planning and time estimation and the most important, without any disturbance and interruption. There are likely more chances of completing that task earlier and with less effort as compared to our traditional ways of doing work.
